When you are new to the Internet, it's easy to become overwhelmed. Millions of pages of information, E-Mail, search engines, downloadable software and music, chat rooms, newsgroups... the choices are endless! CoreComm wants to help you get started. The following lessons are structured so you can move through them in about an hour and start surfing!
Lesson #1: Web Basics
This lesson introduces you to browser navigation, hypertext links, the url bar, and other helpful tips to get you started.
Lesson #2: E-Mail Basics
This lesson introduces you to E-Mail programs - how to read a message, how to compose and send a message and how to open an attachment.
Lesson #3: Internet Explorer Basics
This lesson expands on the Web Basics lesson by explaining the features of the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser.
Lesson #4: Netscape Navigator Basics
This lesson expands on the Web Basics lesson by explaining the features of the Netscape Navigator web browser.
Lesson #5: Newsgroup Basics
This lesson introduces a popular area of the Internet called newsgroups. Newsgroups are message boards of many different topics that allow visitors to read and post replies.
Lesson #6: Chat/Messaging Basics
This lesson introduces you to popular ways to communicate on the Internet in addition to E-Mail. Learn about chat servers, instant messaging, and audio/video conferencing.
HTML Basics
This section will introduce you to HTML, the programming language used to create web pages. While not part of our New Users Learning Area,
you will be able to create your own web page in no time at all after reviewing this material.
